Whether waking up with a dry mouth or going through the day feeling parched, no one likes to struggle with a dry mouth. The tongue sticks to the roof of the mouth, and you may struggle to speak clearly. Often times, bad breath accompanies the problem.
You don't have to just be content to "deal with" a dry mouth. A lot of easy remedies may be able to keep your mouth well-salivated. Here are 6+ remedies you can try if you have a desert in your mouth.

1. Rosemary. Having a good mouthwash to help kill bacteria without making the problem worse is recommended by Health. Use an alcohol-free mouthwash. You can make your own from 1 teaspoon dry rosemary, 1 teaspoon dry mint leaves, 1 teaspoon fennel and 2 1/2 cups boiling water. Let the mixture steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain the leaves out and let the mouthwash cool before using.
2. Baking soda. The Cleveland Clinic recommends using 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 cup of water to rinse your mouth both before and after eating.
3. Salt. Salt helps trigger your salivary glands. Reader's Digest recommends rinsing your mouth with 1 teaspoon of salt dissolved in 1 cup of warm water.
4. Water. A way to keep from drying out throughout the day, says Colgate, is to drink plenty of water. Keep a glass or water bottle handy to sip and swish with.
5. Chewing gum. If liquids aren't an option, the Mayo Clinic says you can stimulate your salivary glands by chewing sugar-free gum.
6. Candy. Breath mints are wonderful if you happen to have them on hand. If not, the Mayo Clinic recommends using sugar-free candy to stimulate your saliva production.
7. Snacks. If you're hungry and have a dry mouth, you can kill two birds with one stone. Health says to grab a water-filled snack like celery or cucumbers to munch on.
8. Drinks to avoid. Sometimes, the way to treat the problem may be as simple as cutting out certain beverages. Reader's Digest lists coffee, tea, soda and alcohol as drinks that dry your mouth out, creating a bigger problem.
9. Nose breathing. If at all possible, Colgate says to avoid breathing through your mouth. Sucking air in through the mouth is like putting a fan on a puddle: It dries the mouth out.
