If your skin is peeling, it is probably the result of damage to the outer layer. The damage may be caused by simple things like a sunburn or dry weather, but it can also be the result of allergies or eczema. Once the skin has been damaged, it has to be sloughed off until the new layer underneath is exposed.
You need to find ways to gently remove the peeling skin without damaging the new skin underneath. The first thing you need to do is discover what the underlying cause of the peeling skin is, and then treat the area appropriately. Here are 6 ways you can gently remove your peeling skin.

1. Lukewarm bath. Sometimes your skin is peeling because of a sunburn. If that's the case, USA TODAY says you can help remove the dead skin cells by soaking in a lukewarm tub for 10 to 15 minutes and then rubbing the area gently with an ultra-soft wash cloth. You can soak up to twice a day to get rid of the skin cells. Be sure to put on a good moisturizer when you get done.
2. Moisturize. No matter what the cause of the dry skin, HUFFPOST reminds you to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. For a really deep moisturizing treatment and a great way to loosen dry skin, you can do an avocado treatment. Mash an avocado and spread it on the peeling area. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing it off in a warm bath.
3. Aloe vera gel. Aloe vera gel is really good for the skin and helps heal all kinds of cuts and sores. It is also really moisturizing, so the Reader's Digest recommends rubbing straight aloe vera gel into dry patches to both moisturize and treat any underlying conditions like psoriasis and burns.
4. Vitamin E oil. To try to treat something like psoriasis, WebMD recommends using vitamin E oil. You can make a vitamin E lotion by combining 1/2 cup shea butter, 1 tablespoon vitamin E oil and 1 tablespoon almond oil. Beautymunsta says to place these ingredients in a blender and mix them together until creamy. Store them in a jar to be used at night.
5. Coconut oil. Another great natural oil for moisturizing is coconut oil, according to WebMD. This can be used straight out of the jar as a moisturizer as often as you want.
6. Oatmeal. Oatmeal is good for treating itchy skin, so if your dry skin is causing you to itch, Top 10 Home Remedies recommends taking an oatmeal bath. Mix 1/2 cup of finely ground oatmeal in a tub of lukewarm water. Soak in it for 15 minutes.
