1. Tea tree oil. Because of tea tree oil's anti-bacterial properties, Reader's Digest recommends using it as a way to help treat back acne. You should always dilute this essential oil so you don't get a chemical burn. Stylecraze recommends adding 1 to 2 drops to your bathwater and soaking in it. You can treat both your back and chest this way.
2. Coconut oil. According to Healthline, coconut oil's high lauric acid content may inhibit the growth of acne causing bacteria. It's also highly moisturizing, which can help prevent scarring. A word of caution, though, is given to those who tend to have oily skin. Coconut oil can clog pores. If your skin tends to be really oily, you may want to skip this remedy. BeautyMunsta makes a cream you can apply to your acne by combining 2 tablespoons coconut oil and 10 drops tea tree oil. Whip them together and store in a jar or tin. You can rub this into your acne at night or in the morning to help heal it quickly.
3. Honey and cinnamon. Medical News Today says that Manuka honey and cinnamon can be combined to form an acne-fighting mask. The honey has sugar that helps keep the bacteria from multiplying while the cinnamon helps shrink the pores on skin. Does this really work? No studies have been performed with the two combined, but no harm should come from trying. You can make a mask by combining 2 tablespoons Manuka honey with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. This should make a paste. Apply the mask to your back for 30 minutes and then rinse off with warm water and moisturize.
4. Apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is today's home remedy world's liquid gold. It's touted for healing everything from stomach problems to cramps. Women's Health states that apple cider vinegar as an acne treatment has never been tested, but it also won't hurt you. Be sure to dilute the vinegar one part vinegar to two parts vinegar. Test a skin patch before using it just to make sure you don't have a reaction.
5. Exfoliate. Healthline recommends that you regularly exfoliate your skin, removing dead cells and bacteria. Wellness Mama combines 1/2 cup brown sugar with 1/2 cup coconut oil to make a simple exfoliator.
6. Sweat management. Keeping your sweat under control may also help minimize your acne. Healthline recommends using moisture wicking clothing when working out. Changing your sheets weekly and washing them in hot water is also highly recommended.
