7 hair masks you need to try to get you on your way to healthier hair

Women love to dye their hair curl it, and blow it dry. In and of themselves, none of these activities will ruin your hair; but do any of them often enough, and you'll end up with split ends and dry, brittle hair. To pamper your hair and give it back some of the oil that gets stripped every time you dry or color your hair, apply a hair mask once a month.
A hair mask doesn't have to be expensive. Many of the nourishing ingredients that Garnier recommends for a mask are things you probably have in your kitchen. Check out these 7 masks you can make to get healthier hair.
1. Avocado. Perfect for restoring the shine to damaged hair, avocado can be added to other ingredients for a great DIY hair mask. DIY Natural combines 1/2 avocado and 2 egg yolks for a mask to produce shine. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and apply to either wet or dry hair, working the mask from the roots of your hair to the tips. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing and washing your hair.
2. Honey. Although honey may be sticky, it's perfect for repairing split ends. DIY Natural mixes 1 teaspoon oil, 1 tablespoon honey and 1/4 cup yogurt together for its mask. Apply it from the roots to the tips to damp hair and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes before shampooing like normal.
3. Coconut oil. To calm dry, frizzy hair, The Indian Spot recommends mixing 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1/4 cup coconut milk, and 1 avocado together. Apply and let sit for 20 minutes before washing out.
4. Green tea. Green tea is supposed to encourage hair growth and according to Garnier, is best when mixed with shea butter. The Indian Spot mixes 1 tablespoon coconut oil and 1 tablespoon matcha green tea. Apply the mask to your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing your hair like normal.
5. Shea butter. Good for hydrating hair and staving off premature graying, shea butter is combined with several other oils in beautymunsta's mask. Combine 1 tablespoon shea butter, 1 tablespoon argan oil, 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon honey and 5 to 10 drops of peppermint oil. Melt the shea butter in a double boiler first. Once it's liquefied, add the other ingredients and then work it into your hair. Let it sit for 60 minutes before washing out.
6. Eggs and mayonnaise. Although eggs and mayo aren't on Garnier's list, Livestrong.com recommends them for strengthening and moisturizing damaged hair. Combine 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vinegar or olive oil. Apply to your hair from roots to tip, cover with a shower cap, wrap with a hot towel and let it sit for 20 minutes. Wash your hair like normal.
7. 1-2-3. Garnier's list is for dry or damaged hair, so this set is also not on the list. If you want to restore some bounce to your limp hair, Reader's Digest recommends using a vinegar hair mask. Making it as easy as 1-2-3. Mix 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons olive oil and 3 egg whites together. Apply to your hair from the roots to the tips. Cover for 30 minutes and then wash your hair as normal.
