These 5 natural remedies can halt panic attacks fast

"A panic attack is a sudden strong feeling of fear," says WebMD.
It can last for five to 10 minutes and seems to come out of nowhere. When it happens for the first time, you can easily mistake it for a heart attack.
Those who have experienced panic attacks understand how scary they can be. They disrupt your life, and you walk around in fear of when the next one will hit. Doctors can prescribe medication to help, but according to WebMD, some of the medications can take up to a year before you see results. You also can't just stop taking them cold turkey - you have to wean off of them.

Thankfully, there are options. Below are 5 natural remedies you can try to see if they keep your panic attacks under control. Check with your doctor to see which one he or she recommends for you.
1. L-tryptophan. This is a naturally occurring amino acid in food. You are probably familiar with it from eating turkey at Thanksgiving. Turkey naturally contains this important amino acid which is responsible for increasing serotonin levels in the brain. Dr. Axe says that some studies have seen improvement in people suffering from panic attacks when taking 5-HTP supplements (a supplement synthesized from L-tryptophan). Although this shouldn't be combined with other antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications, the studies have seen a decrease in moodiness and headaches and an increase in better quality sleep.
2. Magnesium. A common mineral the body needs to function properly, magnesium has been shown to help reduce the symptoms of panic attacks by relaxing muscles and calming the nervous system. It may also help fight insomnia. Too much magnesium in your system can result in diarrhea, according to Dr. Axe.
3. B-complex. Dr. Axe shares that vitamin B is critical to your body's overall health. B-complex may help stave off panic attacks and the problems that come with them. The most important B vitamin in the pack is vitamin B6. It's the mood stabilizer and helps balance blood sugars; fight fatigue, stress and depression.
4. Chamomile. Chamomile has been known for a long time to aid in sleep, but according to Fox News, a study done by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center showed a " significant decrease in anxiety symptoms compared to patients taking placebo."
5. Valerian root. Another old standby to aid in sleep and anxiety, valerian root has been believed to help alleviate the symptoms of anxiety. According to Medical News Today, the jury is still out on how effective this really is. It appears to possibly help people fall asleep faster and sleep better. Those who use it report they find relief from restless and nervous energy.
