How to ease sinus pain and allergy symptoms by stimulating points on your hand

The proverbial picture of springtime, with lots of sunshine, beautiful trees and flowers in full bloom can be a picture of terror for people with seasonal allergies. Sneezing, watery eyes, coughing and stuffy noses can all but kill the beauty of spring.

"Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet, hands and ears ... The theory behind reflexology is that these areas correspond to organs and systems of the body. Proponents believe that pressure applied to these areas affects the organs and benefits the person's health," according to the Mayo Clinic.
The type of reflexology used to help ease allergy symptoms, focuses on different pressure points in the hand.

If you have a stuffy nose or achy sinuses, try putting pressure on the joint between your thumb and index finger. Press hard, and hold the pressure for two minutes. Pressure here should reduce pain and discomfort in the nose, according to Modern Reflexology. * Word of caution: Pregnant women should skip this treatment as it could cause premature contractions.
An alternative option is to use your index fingers to put pressure on the sides of your nose. Press your fingers on the edge of both nostrils (where you feel your cheekbones) and hold for about four minutes.
Acupressure Points Guide recommends, putting pressure on the inner gate point (located on the underside of your wrist, about midway down) with your thumb, pushing downwards. You can also put pressure on each of your fingernails (you'll feel it when you have the right spot) to help alleviate sinus pressure.
