Here's the powerful effect just one glass of turmeric juice can have on your body

Turmeric is one of the most potent spices available. We like to sprinkle its powder in eggs or use it to make a fiery yellow curry. But have you tried drinking it as juice? According to Dr. Mike Roussell in an article for Shape, doing so can have a myriad of wild and beneficial effects on your body.
The curcumin in the turmeric plant is a potent anti-inflammatory that protects and fights against such inflammatory diseases as Crohn's, rheumatoid arthritis, hay fever, and several types of cancer. Dr. Roussell also mentions the positive effects of curcumin on neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's.

To make turmeric juice, start with a trip to your neighborhood health foods store. Pick up a 5- 7 inch piece of turmeric, 5- 7 pieces of tamarind, 2 lemons, and a jar of raw honey. You will also need a blender strainer, bowl, and mason jars. Then, simply follow the below instructions from Mind Body Green:
1. Peel the turmeric.
2. Crack and open the tamarind.
3. Fill a pot with boiling water. Boil peeled turmeric for approximately 20 minutes, until the water turns a vibrant yellow the color of marigold.
4. Meanwhile, pour 1 inch of boiling water into a pan. Add the peeled tamarind fruit and with a wooden spoon, mix the fruit into the water until the water becomes a jam-like consistency. When the mixture appears soft, set it aside and let it cool completely.
5. When the turmeric water is ready, add cold water to lower the temperature. Pour the turmeric water into the blender and blend for 1 minute.
6. Once the tamarind has cooled, pour it into a strainer positioned over a small bowl. Pour the tamarind caught in the bowl into the blender with the turmeric water. Blend once more.
7. Squeeze the lemons directly into the blender and blend a final time.
8. Pour the home-made turmeric juice into mason jars and add raw honey to taste. Close the lid, shake the jar, and serve.
The turmeric juice will be good for 3- 4 days and should be drank daily for maximum benefit.
