Many uses of baking soda in and on your body

Baking soda we're huge fans of it here. You can use it for a ton of different projects around the house (you can even find uses for baking soda in the medicine cabinet). While this cookie and cake ingredient seems innocuous, it actually packs quite a punch. You may be surprised at how many ways you can put this stuff to use.
Before we list the myriad of jobs you can use it for, we want to note that there is one thing you should not be using it for, exfoliation. While using baking soda as an exfoliator is a popular hack making its way around the internet, using it on your face can actually damage your skin, according to Future Derm. Baking soda has a high pH level which can disrupt the natural acidity levels of your skin. Skip the baking soda and opt for a sugar-based home remedy instead.

Check out a few of these healthy uses below:
1. Ease tummy troubles
Baking soda neutralizes acids (which is why it's bad as a face wash). If you have heartburn or tummy troubles, baking soda can help relieves the pain. Try adding a teaspoon to a cup of water and sipping it.
2. Create a deodorant
Storing baking soda in the fridge helps remove food odors. It works for the body too. Mix a bit of baking soda with a bit of water to create a paste. Rub it under your arms or on your feet to remove odors.
3. Remove splinters
Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with warm water to make a paste. Apply the paste to your splinter and allow it to dry. Apply twice a day for a few days. The splinter will come to the surface, painlessly.
4. Wash your hair
When applying your shampoo, add a tablespoon of baking soda too. The baking soda removes leftover residue from shampoo and other hair products.
5. Whiten your teeth
You may have heard that using baking soda to brush your teeth is a great way to save money on toothpaste, but you can also use baking soda to whiten your teeth. Create a paste with a teaspoon of baking soda and some water. Rub the mixture on your teeth and let it set for about 5 minutes once a week and rinse.
6. Treat your nails
Remove polish stains from your finger nails by soaking them in a mixture of water, peroxide and baking soda. (Combine 1/2 cup water, 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide and 1 tablespoon of baking soda).  Apply the mixture to your nails and let it set for two minutes before rinsing. Use this technique every two months for the best results.
7. Clear stuffed up nose
Mix 1 cup of warm water with 1/2 teaspoon of fine sea salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Use an ear syringe to mist into your nose as needed.
8. Kill canker sores
Get rid of painful mouth sores by rinsing your mouth with a combination of warm water and baking soda. Rinse twice a day.
9.  Improve your workout
Drink a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water before your next workout to help absorb lactic acid and delay fatigue.
10. Soothe sunburns
