Use coconut oil to ward off graying and hair loss

Our hair is one of the best definitions of who we are — so it's not surprising we spend tons of money each year keeping it looking young and lustrous. A lot of that money is spent on artificial chemicals and solutions, but there is one method with natural benefits: coconut oil.
Protect and strengthen
According to New Health Guide, the best kind of coconut oil to use in your hair is the organic variety. It can be used as a protein to shield the roots and strands of hair from breaking; to seal in moisture that keeps your hair from being damaged by environmental changes; to improve blood circulation in your scalp; to deliver vital nutrients to your hair; and to promote antibacterial and antifungal health.

It's not simply a matter of smearing a handful of the oil onto your head, however, according to New Health Guide. For the best results, the oil needs to be kept in the jar, which in turn is warmed in a container of warm water. Warm water should also be used to wet your hair, and then the oil should be delivered via tablespoon — two for shoulder-length hair and four for long hair.
Massage the oil into your scalp for at least three minutes, then cover your head with a shower cap for 20 to 30 minutes, although overnight will work best. When you're done rinse it off with a preservative-free shampoo and do not apply conditioner.
Away with the gray
Coconut oil can also be used to combat the graying of hair, according to The Fit Indian. Combined with curry leaves, it can help manage the graying of hair by employing vitamin B.
Combine one cup of oil with a handful of curry leaves and boil for 6 to 8 minutes. After allowing the concoction to cool, strain the oil and massage it into your scalp, using it three or four times a week just before bed.

In the morning, don't forget to use a shampoo — think mild herbal — to wash off the mixture and enjoy the results! And if you are impressed by coconut oil's many benefits to your hair, share it with your friends!
