1. Warm wash cloth. One of the best things to do is to use a warm wash cloth to help draw the infection to a head and cause it to drain. According to emedicinehealth, be sure to use a clean cloth every time and leave the cloth on for five to 10 minutes. Do this four to six times a day.
2. Massage. WebMD recommends gently massaging the area while the warm compress is on.
3. Wash. The Mayo Clinic says to be sure to wash the eye with a diluted "tear-free" shampoo every day.
4. Don't pop. Above all else, Medical News Today says to be sure not to pop it. Although it may remind you of a pimple, popping a sty may cause the puss to spread the infection.
5. Eye makeup. To help the sty heal quickly, the Mayo Clinic says to forgo all eye makeup for the duration of the sty.
6. Glasses. According to emedicinehealth, if you wear contacts, you need to wear your glasses instead until the sty is gone.
