7 signs you're eating too much fat

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is all about finding balance. Eating too much of any protein, vitamin, or fat can throw your body off balance. If you are struggling with weight loss or other health symptoms, it could be because your diet is out of whack.
One thing you might be eating too much of is fat. The American Heart Association says that our bodies need a certain amount of healthy fats to help protect our organs, absorb nutrients, and produce hormones. But, too much fat (especially the unhealthy kind) can lead to major health problems.

Keep reading to see a few hints that you may need to adjust your fat level intake:
1. Weight gain
If you have put on weight or you having a hard time losing weight, you could be consuming too much fat. While healthy fats are essential for a healthy diet, too much of the unhealthy kind leads to weight gain. Opt for healthy fats (like fish, avocado, and nuts) instead of french fries, egg rolls, and fried chicken to loosen the belt.
2. Heartburn
If you are regularly experiencing bouts of heartburn, you could be eating too much fat. According to WebMD, fatty foods and large meals can cause heartburn because the fat sits in your stomach for a long time, creating more irritating acid, that could lead to heartburn.
3. High cholesterol
The cause of high cholesterol is typically a combination of an inactive lifestyle, unhealthy weight, and a diet too high in saturated fats. Other factors like age, gender, and genetics can also factor into your cholesterol levels. A diet full of veggies, fruits, and healthy fats may help, according to WebMD.

4. Memory problems
Having trouble concentrating or remembering things? An unhealthy diet could be to blame. According to a Harvard study, a diet high in unhealthy fats can increase LDL cholesterol levels, and if LDLs build up they can increase your risk of dementia and other memory problems.
5. Exhaustion
If you've ever come home from an epic night of binging on hot wings and fries and fallen into a stupor-like coma, there's a reason. According to a study in Men's Health, people who eat 135 grams of fat or more per day are more likely to experience daytime tiredness. The reason: your body starts producing neurohormones that can make you feel tired.
6. Joint pain
Arthritis.org reports that foods higher in saturated fats cause inflammation of the joints. If you already have arthritis this can make your bad days even worse. What's more, joint pain and inflammation can indicate a risk of heart disease, so trim down the fat to feel better!

7. Moodiness
U.S. News reported a link between fatty foods (saturated fats) and depression. Fatty foods not only make you feel tired, but they can affect your mood, too. Since your body has to work a lot harder to digest the fat, this can deplete energy sources from other areas of your body.
